2012: Oban, Kerrera

After our arrival on Saturday (08.04.2012) we checked in the Hilton Airport Hotel in Edinburgh. We went to Edinburgh for Dinner and a few drinks in Whiski Bar & Restaurant. I absolutely can recommend this pub. They have over 300(!!!) single Malts in their shelf and the bar staff has good knowledge about Malt Whiskies.

Easter Sunday we got our car and went to Oban via Stirling (check out the photos in the Gallery Oban, Kerrera. If you like to get GPS and EXIF information or leave a comment, just click the Picasa Album Link). In Stirling we visited the Wallace Monument (well known from the Movie "Braveheart"). We arrived at Oban at 05:00 pm, where we checked in to Gramarvin Guesthouse. A very nice B&B with very friendly people. We definitly can recommend it.

On Easter Monday, we had one full day in Oban. Our first stop was Oban Distillery. We didn't take a tour and tasted just a limited Distillery Edition (only available in the Distillery), which is matured in three different casks. It was really good, but I didn't took a bottle with me (why??? Just space for on bottle left, an Aberlour Self Filling).

After that we made a short tour to McCaig's Tower where we had a stunning view over Oban to Isle of Mull. On top of Oban we recognized the small Island between Oban and Mull, it's the Isle of Kerrera. We decided to visit this place and took the small Ferry (one car or 12 pedestrians) to the Island. Here we took the yellow route (click on the image to watch it in full size). It was a nice walk with brilliant views to Oban coast line (see downloads for KMZ to use with Google Earth).

At night we had a wonderfull dinner in EE-USK Restaurant. It's located at the north pier just a few meters from Atlantic. We loved our seafood dinner, brilliant.
